ABOUT
The New York Film & Television Student Alliance (NYFTSA) is an organization that helps provide a variety of opportunities for college students pursuing a career in the film or television industry.
NYFTSA is an inclusive organization that supports, promotes, and welcomes diversity, not only in our own community, but also in the workplaces we see ourselves entering in the future.
Through the work of its members, the group organizes an annual statewide summit that allows students to connect with industry professionals and hear about their real life experiences. Additionally, this event gives our respective schools the ability to network amongst one another in a shared physical space.
During the course of the year, the Alliance plans a number of interactive workshops and outings, including trips to the Tribeca Film Festival, visiting other chapters, touring major production studios, and working with talented advisors to learn different aspects of the industry.
The New York Film and Television Student Alliance (NYFTSA) launched in 2014 in collaboration with the New York State Governor's Office of Motion Picture and Television Development to connect industry professionals and learning experiences with college students pursuing a career in the film or television industry. Chrissy Guest, Associate Professor at Ithaca College, worked with the Governor's Office to launch the organization and the first chapter at the Roy H. Park School of Communications.

In 2014, the first executive board of NYFTSA, led by President Elena DeLuccia '16, joined forces with Kingsborough Community College for the first NYFTSA Summit. Since then, NYFTSA has added chapters across New York State that take turns hosting the NYFTSA Summit, a day full of film and television panels and workshops.
HISTORY
Brooklyn College and Fordham University have most recently held the NYFTSA Summit with Ithaca College hosting again in 2023.

The Governor's Office provides connections to its vast network of professionals and brings NYFTSA's educational programming to chapters across the state. Bronx Community College, Ithaca College, and the Governor's Office produced the Open Doors film panel series together in 2016.

Now, with chapters stretching across New York State and collaborations with nearly a dozen film and television organizations, NYFTSA continues its mission to help educate and build futures for New York media students (pursuing a career in the television, film, or related industries) by connecting them to industry professionals and other students around the state.
